Lose it All

For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.

Luke 9:24

According to Jesus, there is only one way to life – in Himself. There are not multiple paths to life – eternal life cannot be accessed through various doorwaysthere is only one way and His name is Jesus.

In fact, Jesus in His passion for us to understand what it is to obtain true life, speaks to us as plainly and simply as He can – “whoever wishes to save his life will lose it”.

With clarity and precision, Jesus reveals to us the only thing that will hinder us from coming to Him for eternal life – ourselves. You see, sin (that which separates us from God…see Isaiah 59:2) was born out of a self-willed rebellion against God and His Lordship. In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve willfully chose to follow the leading of the enemy of their souls – He promised a life of fulfillment and true worth…if only they would exalt themselves and become the lords of their own lives (Genesis 3:4).

When Adam and Eve believed and acted upon this lie, all of creation spiraled into futility and darkness. The root of sin is a prideful, self-exalted life. Jesus knows this…and He has offered a way out.

Lose it All

Jesus speaks clearly – “whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will find it“. The remedy to our sin-situation is simple: we must lose our lives if we are to receive Jesus and His life…simple.

I believe this with all of my heart – if we would take the words of Jesus as absolute truth and follow His leading with a radical obedience – we would find “the life” that so many of us are searching for…the deep fulfillment and joy that surpasses knowledge…a deep abiding peace in every circumstance…things that only our Lord Jesus supplies. The only thing that separates us from His well-spring of life is our unwillingness to lose all of ourselves for the sake of our King…simple.

So…

So…what are we waiting for? The greatest adventure, the surest of loves, and the true fulfillment of joy is waiting for us in Jesus – He requires all so that He can give us His all! Let’s all of us, repent of self-willed, self-driven, and self-exalting lives and lose everything for the sake of our King.

Surrender afresh today and abide in the shadow of the Almighty – He is our life and true fulfillment.

Bless you!

  • Halleluyah 🙌. Paul said that as compared to the excellency of Yeshua (Jesus), rest everything is garbage. 😃👍 Nice one Taylor.
