Give, and it will be given to you…Luke 6:38
Economy of the Kingdom
The Kingdom of God is an interesting place. The economy of this Kingdom is even more interesting. To receive, you must lose. To grow, you must be lowered. All things are gained through loss. Super encouraging, right?
Well, this brilliant economy is always working for the good of those who trust in King Jesus. Let me explain: when we lose what we were never created for (self-centered living, me-based-decision-making), we become empty vessels ready to be filled with the resource of Heaven.
Give and Receive
Jesus, with absolute simplicity, reveals to us how the Father intends to bless us…”give and it will be given to you.” He even goes further and says, “..by your standard of measure [of giving] it will be measured to you in return.” (Luke 6:38) In other words, give a little…get a little, give more…get more.
Too simple? Almost offensive, right? Think on this: Jesus, the King of Glory, leapt off His throne, humbled Himself by becoming the lowest of the low, and was finally subjected to a bogus trial and crucified by evil men. I think we can agree on at least one thing: Jesus gave everything!
What was the reward or measure given back to Jesus? All things. “For this reason, [His obedience to the point of death] God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow…and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…” (Phil. 2:9-11) Jesus gave all to receive all that the Father had promised Him.
How About You?
Jesus is calling you and me to give all that we are so that we might receive the fullness of who He is. Jesus wants to bless you…seriously! Your blessing becomes the fuel and resource needed to accomplish the desires He has placed in your heart. Your blessing is the resource needed to build the Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.
Will we live with open hands and freely give? I know we will!
“Give and it will be given to you…”
