Everything we need, and if we are being honest, everything we want, is found within the fullness of Jesus.
The simplicity of this truth is staggering…almost unnerving. Surely it isn’t that easy, right? Can we really find our true fulfillment in the presence of Jesus?
The Deceitfulness of Sin
Sin, the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the boastful pride of life (1 Jn. 2:16), wages war against the simplicity of our faith and fulfillment in Jesus. Let me explain: The writer of Hebrews warns us against being “hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” (Heb. 3:13) Interestingly, He states clearly that the deceitfulness of sin is the root cause of a calloused and unfeeling soul.
You see, sin promises everything it cannot give; fulfillment. It promises us a life of pleasure, joy, and fulfillment…things it can never bring. Here is the deal: the more we subject ourselves to this deception, the more we become…well, deceived.
Our hearts become calloused to the truth of God through the deceitfulness of sin. Said another way, our ability to perceive what is truly fulfilling to us, the presence of Jesus, is shrouded behind the lie given to us through sin.
Reject the Lie
What would happen if today, right now, you decided with Jesus that you were going to pursue His presence over all things? Would you reject the lie that something other than Jesus could bring you fulfillment? This simple choice is the gateway to your freedom and fulfillment in Jesus.
So, would you simplify your life with me and pursue Jesus? I am absolutely confident that everyone who draws near to God will experience the presence of God. (James 4:8) I have given my life to this and want you to join me! He is offering us life…true fulfillment in Jesus.
Let’s pursue His fullness together!
