Did you know that God, the Creator of all things, has called you by name and desires that you should live together with Him for all of eternity? Listen to the words of Paul:
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ…“Ephesians 2:4-5
God, in His unfathomable love for you, displayed His mercy towards you and made you alive together with Christ. The Greek for this phrase is amazing. The words “made you alive together” is actually one Greek word – suzóopoieó.
This word centers upon two individuals merging together and becoming animated as one new creation. Paul is clear, Jesus stepped off His throne, gave Himself over to the cross, resurrected on the third day, so that He might make us alive together with Him.
That’s right – Jesus does not merely want to make you a good person, He wants to merge in Spirit with you and make you alive – just as He is alive through the glory of the Father. We have been called to “walk in newness of life” and to “consider yourselves to be…alive to God in Christ Jesus.” (Rom. 6: 4,11.)
Now is the Time
Don’t you think it is time to walk as new people, new creations? All of the old nature has been dealt with in Jesus. The only thing holding you back from a life of unity and purpose in the Father is unbelief.
Think on this – If you have been made alive with Jesus because of your merging with Him in faith, you have also become dead to sin. If you are sharing your very life and existence with Jesus, you are also reaping the benefits of His nature within you. Guess what, Jesus is not mastered by sin, regret, shame, anxiety, worry, lust, anger…nothing – and neither are you!
What is mastering you? Did you know it can be broken off in Jesus? The prison door is unlocked, swung wide open, all you need to do is rise up in faith and walk out the door. Jesus has made you alive together with Him – you are dead to sin now. Nothing shall master you in the name of Jesus.
We are called believers – let’s start living up to our name and believe the words of our Father. Throw aside all of the past – everything that we think should hold us at an arms length from Jesus. Let’s run this race as sons and daughters redeemed by our great Father. Let’s live fully alive with Jesus today.
